Kaiser Health News: Debt Deal Triggers Nerves In Health Industry; Providers Brace For Cuts.  Summary of articles in several papers.

The Commonwealth Fund. Multinational Comparisons of Health Systems Data, 2010.  “… we use data collected by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to compare health care systems and performance on a range of topics, including spending, hospitals, physicians, pharmaceuticals, prevention, mortality, and quality of care. We present data across several industrialized countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.” 

The Commonwealth Fund: A Commonwealth report out (last week) studied data on health spending in 12 countries (Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States).  ...in the U.S health spending was $7,538 per person.  Where we spend it. . 

POLITICO Pulse: By 2020, health care spending will account for $1 of every $5 in the economy, while expanding insurance coverage to 30 million more Americans, according to a new CMS report out (last week) on ACA spending. 

Kaiser Health News Capsules: A group of Washington D.C. Republican-leaning former business and government officials have launched a coalition to build support for a policy to replace the sweeping 2010 health law if it were to be repealed through the legislative or judicial process. Very well funded.  

Kaiser Health News Capsules: The first health care lawsuit that was decided by an appeals court is now at the doorstep of the Supreme Court.
